About Erin Belden
My name is Erin Belden, and I am a Castleton resident passionate about education advocacy. I am announcing my candidacy for Castleton School Director on the Slate Valley Unified Board of Education as a write-in candidate for Town Meeting Day on March 4th.
As a former remote educator for Revolution Prep, I bring comprehensive experience that aligns with the Slate Valley Unified School District’s mission to support student achievement, college and career readiness, and active participation in a global society. This experience has provided me with valuable insights that I can apply to our local school district. As a school board member, I will focus on ensuring that all students have access to the resources and opportunities they need to succeed—both inside and outside the classroom. I am committed to expanding academic support services such as tutoring, mentorship, and internships, and fostering strong partnerships between schools, families, and the community to promote academic excellence and career readiness. I support maintaining or responsibly lowering taxes to keep our education system strong while respecting our community’s financial constraints. Prioritizing efficient budgeting ensures high-quality education without undue taxpayer burden.
I specialize in standardized test preparation, college essay writing, and executive functioning, having led courses and seminars nationwide. My experience in instruction and curriculum development spans most K-12 subjects, including AP and IB programs. I have completed extensive training to support students with various learning differences and am well versed in IEP and 504 plans. After five rewarding years working internationally with students, I am excited to refocus my efforts on supporting my local community.
My Vermont roots run deep—I grew up in Rutland, graduated from Rutland Senior High School, and earned degrees in Spanish for Business and Spanish Language and Literature from Castleton University. My father, Steven Wolf, has been the Spartan Arena Director for over 15 years and my mother, Karen Wolf, has worked at Rutland Regional Medical Center for over 25 years. I live in Castleton with my husband, Justin Belden, who is a 7th generation Vermonter and is president of Belden Construction.
We are committed to our community and hope to see our future generations thrive in the Slate Valley Unified School District. I ask for your vote to help ensure all students can excel and reach their full potential.
